In a recent segment on Youtube, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Manchester United are in talks to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson. Romano said,
“Ederson is available. Manchester United are aware of that, but my understanding is that Manchester United are talking to his agents. I told you some time ago, conversations are active between Man United and the agents.
“Man United are aware of the price from Atlanta, €45m. This is the price tag. So there are contracts for Ederson, but it’s not the only one.
“Man United could sign two or three midfielders based on opportunities, based on exits, and more. And so the name of Ederson is going to be a really important one. But at the moment, not the only one. There are at least five or six midfielders under consideration at Manchester United.”
Ederson is having a solid campaign at the Italian club as he has produced a run of impressive performances at the heart of their midfield. The 26-year-old has participated in 40 matches for Atalanta this season, netting three goals and grabbing a couple of assists across all competitions.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for the Red Devils to consider this off-season.
Ederson is a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive.
The Brazilian sensation can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. Ederson is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
Ederson will add more bite and steel to Man United boss Michael Carrick’s midfield. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford in the coming years.
At 26, Ederson has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to consider this off-season. Hence, Carrick would be wise to go for a player of his quality and skill set later this year.
