In a recent report, The Sun stated that Manchester United are locked in a three-way battle for Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are set to compete with Roma and Napoli in the race to sign the English wide player this summer.

Hudson-Odoi’s Inconsistent Season At Nottingham

Hudson-Odoi struggled to find consistency at the Midlands club in the previous campaign but managed to catch the eye at times on the left flank. The English talent was involved in 36 matches for Nottingham last season, netting five goals and grabbing three assists across multiple competitions.

The 24-year-old did well to average 1.52 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He kept 45.9% of his attempts on target. Hudson-Odoi was even accurate when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass success rate of 82% in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current deal at the City Ground will expire at the end of next season which could open the door for Man United to sign him on the cheap in this summer transfer window.

Will Hudson-Odoi Be A Decent Choice For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Hudson-Odoi is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the wide areas. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the opposition’s half and can strike the ball with power from long range.

The English sensation is mainly a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or play in the number ten position if needed. He is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United.

Hudson-Odoi would add more pace and energy to Ruben Amorim’s attack. However, he might struggle to secure regular first-team football at Old Trafford.

All in all, Hudson-Odoi would be a decent choice for the Red Devils but only if Amorim is planning to use him as a rotational piece in his squad. At 24, the English talent has his peak years ahead of him and could be a success story at the Mancunian club in the long run.
