In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Manchester United are showing interest in Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners this summer. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Aston Villa in the race to sign the Dutch talent in this transfer window.

Koopmeiners’ Solid Campaign In Italian Football

Koopmeiners enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club in the previous campaign when he put in a series of influential displays at the heart of their midfield. The Dutch midfield ace played in 45 matches for Juve last season, netting two goals and securing one assist in the process across multiple competitions.

The 28-year-old is currently one of the most reliable central midfielders in Serie A. Thus, the Red Devils would do well to get a deal over the line for him this off-season.

His current contract at the Turin club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Man United to land him on the cheap later this year.

What Will Koopmeiners Bring To Manchester United?

Koopmeiners is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to make some crucial interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when needed and is an accurate distributor of the ball as well.

The Dutch sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team from midfield. Koopmeiners mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a centre-back or play in the number ten position if required. However, there are some question marks over whether he can settle into the physical demands and high intensity of Premier League football if the Red Devils manage to snap him up in this transfer period.

Koopmeiners would bring more quality and depth to Man United boss Michael Carrick’s midfield department. He is capable of challenging for regular first-team football at Old Trafford next season.

At 28, Koopmeiners is playing in his prime and would serve as a good replacement for Casemiro at the Mancunian club. Therefore, Carrick should focus on stepping up his efforts to land him this summer.
