Shea Lacey has returned to training with Manchester United after remaining sidelined for around a month through injury.

The 18-year-old hasn’t played for United’s first team since he featured as a second-half substitute in the FA Cup third round defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on January 11.

Lacey was out due to a calf injury, but he is now back in first-team training sessions and available for selection.

United manager Michael Carrick is unlikely to start Lacey between now and the end of the season, unless injuries in attack occur.

Lacey made his competitive debut in United’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa and also came on as a late substitute in the 2-2 Premier League draw with Burnley.

He was part of the matchday squad for the home encounter against Fulham on February 1, but wasn’t brought off the bench.

The forward’s return is a boost for United, but they are still without Patrick Dorgu, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt.

Martinez and Mount could recover in time to be available for the Villa game on March 15, but Dorgu and De Ligt are not due back until April.
