Benjamin Sesko picked up a knock during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The 22-year-old was introduced in the 58th-minute of the away game, but lasted just 30 minutes on the pitch following a tackle from Micky van de Ven.
Sesko headed straight down the tunnel after receiving treatment, and the Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim admitted he was concerned about the situation.
When asked about the extent of the striker’s injury, Amorim said: “I have no idea. Because it’s the knee, we never know.
“I’m concerned with the injury because it’s in the knee. We need Ben to be a better team. We have to check everything, we have to check what has happened with Ben.”
Sesko joined United from RB Leipzig in the summer for £73.7 million.
Unlike Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens, the Slovenian new arrival has endured a slow start to life at Old Trafford.
He has scored just two goals and an assist in 11 Premier League appearances.
That has brought pressure on the centre-forward, with former United star Gary Neville claiming he was ‘miles off it’ in the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.
Amorim believes Sesko should learn to accept criticism so that it becomes like a ‘normal Monday’.
The 22-year-old has all the qualities to excel in the English top-flight.
Standing at close to 6ft 5in, Sesko is a major threat in the air, can play with both feet and has great technique.
He has proven his abilities in Germany with Leipzig, but is still trying to find his feet in England.
However, Amorim will be patient with him and he is expected to come good in time.
