Michael Carrick has been keen to add two new central midfielders to his squad this summer, and last week the club agreed a £50m fee with Chelsea for Andrey Santos.

However, despite agree a fee worth around £37m with Atlanta, a deal for Ederson has been called for now.

Tielemans’ imminent exit from Aston Villa comes as the club successfully hijack Newcastle’s move for Johan Manzambi.

According to widespread reports, the Switzerland star is set to join Villa in a deal worth around £49m.

It remains to be seen if Tielemans’ exit and Manzambi’s arrival, both following a serious injury to midfielder Amadou Onana, has any impact on Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Rogers.

Standard Sport understands that Rogers is Mikel Arteta’s priority transfer target this summer, as the Gunners look to update their options on the left-hand side.

Leandro Trossard is expected to leave for Besiktas, while Gabriel Martinelli’s future in north London remains uncertain.

Arsenal are expected to soon test Villa’s resolve with a first bid.

The Gunners admire Rogers for his versatility, with the 23-year-old capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing.

Personal terms are not expected to be an obstacle, as Rogers is understood to be keen on a move to north London.

However, Villa have no desire to sell one of their standout performers and hope to retain him for their return to the Champions League in the 2026-27 campaign.
