The Athletic reports that Manchester United are considering a move for out-of-contract Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow this summer, while Leeds plan to offer him a new deal and Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is another option for Michael Carrick’s side.
Darlow signed a three-year contract on arriving at Elland Road in 2023. He regained the first-choice spot under Daniel Farke midway through the 2025/26 season.
The Welshman started 22 Premier League matches last season, initially deputising for Lucas Perri during an autumn injury, then keeping the shirt from January after impressing.
United strengthened their goalkeeping ranks last summer by signing Belgian Senne Lammens for around £18 million, and he excelled in his debut campaign. Behind him, options are thinner, with Altay Bayindir, a £4 million arrival in 2023, having struggled and expected to leave Old Trafford. Darlow would also count as homegrown.
Given his status this summer, homegrown profile and recent top-flight form, Darlow is likely to attract multiple suitors. He is a Wales international and currently first-choice under Craig Bellamy.
Farke has praised Darlow’s performances and character, highlighting strong mutual trust, and said he would only discuss the goalkeeper’s future once matters are confirmed.
