In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester United could face stiff competition for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume this January. It is understood that the Red Devils would have to rival Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion in pursuit of the French talent in the winter transfer window.
Agoume has made an impressive start to this La Liga campaign as he has already put in a few solid displays at the heart of Sevilla’s midfield. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net once in five league matches for the Andalusian club this season.
The French midfield ace has given a good account of himself at the centre of the park after making 14 tackles, four blocks, eight interceptions and nine clearances in La Liga so far. He has also distributed the ball accurately from midfield based on his pass success rate of 81.7% in the Spanish top flight (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Andalusian club will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man United to sign him on a cut-price deal this January.

Agoume is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball.
The French sensation can even chip in by scoring the odd goal from midfield. Agoume is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life at Man United.
We can expect Agoume to add more bite and steel to Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford in the coming years.
At 23, Agoume has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Red Devils to consider this winter. He would even serve as an ideal long-term replacement for Casemiro, who has entered the final stage of his playing career at the Premier League club. All in all, Agoume would be well worth the fight, so Amorim should focus on stepping up his efforts to land him in the January transfer period.
