The ongoing uncertainty surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma’s (26) future at Paris Saint-Germain is attracting interest from elsewhere, Foot Mercato understands.

Donnarumma’s contract at PSG expires at the end of next season and, following the club’s triumph in the UEFA Champions League, he raised doubts about his continuation in Paris.  “We’ll see in the next few days,” he told Sky Italia. His comments have been perceived as a means of applying pressure in order to get the deal that he wants.

Get French Football News reported in early May that there was optimism regarding an extension to that deal. The ball has been in the players’ camp, with a set of criteria that apply to all players who sign extensions with Les Parisiens, to be accepted by Donnarumma if the deal is to be signed. This has now been confirmed by Foot Mercato, who state that Donnarumma’s contract is the last of the old regime. For renewals to go through, other players have had to adhere to the changes in regime, which entails, for example, a lower variable portion in his contract, relative to his current deal.

The ball remains in Donnarumma’s camp. One way or another, it is a situation that is expected to resolve itself quickly. If the Italian is to depart, there is plenty of interest from elsewhere, including from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
