Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at Old Trafford, conceding a late equaliser that denied them the chance to move up to fifth in the Premier League.
The hosts took the lead on 58 minutes through Diogo Dalot, who controlled a deflected Casemiro shot and finished smartly.
Bruno Fernandes had earlier struck the post during the hosts’ best spell of the match, but overall it was a laboured display from a side with just one win in their last five.
West Ham, who came into the game with the league’s worst record for set-piece defending, levelled ironically from a corner. Jarrod Bowen’s flicked header was cleared off the line by Noussair Mazraoui, only for the ball to fall to Soungoutou Magassa, who slammed in his first goal for the club with seven minutes remaining.
The result keeps West Ham in the relegation zone, a point behind Leeds, but earns a valuable draw after a spirited second-half push.
United move up to eighth and next travel to Wolves on Monday, while West Ham visit Brighton on Sunday.
