Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson to publish new memoir detailing his favourite games | OneFootball

Manchester United great Sir Alex Ferguson has announced a new memoir reflecting on his life through the lens of 21 football matches. 

Titled Games of My Life, it offers fresh insights and personal reflections from the former United boss. 

The memoir has been written with Ferguson’s long-time friend and author Sir Michael Moritz, and will hit the bookshelves on October 8. 

The book is fully illustrated and contains never-before-seen photographs and notebooks from the legendary manager’s archive. 

Ferguson said in a statement: “I’ve selected 21 football games for this book, which are particularly meaningful to me. 

“The choices may surprise you because, rather than dwelling on the matches I’ve written about previously or those that might immediately register in the minds of fans, I’ve chosen games that take me back to different points in my life and which, even after the decades have passed, count for so much.”

Ferguson’s previous autobiography, published in 2013, became a bestseller, selling more than a million copies in the United Kingdom alone. 

The 84-year-old’s last book was about his time in football, but the latest one is about his life told through football. 

Games of My Life promises to reveal fresh insights into his journey from the shipyards of Govan to the summit of global football as United manager. 

The legendary manager has reflected on the relationships, rivalries, life lessons and moments of adversity that forged his character and his teams. 

Ferguson led United to 38 trophies during his 26-year tenure. The Red Devils have subsequently been trying to replicate the success they enjoyed under him.

However, they have failed to win a single Premier League title since 2013. 

The club remain in a period of transition after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Michael Carrick is managing on an interim basis, and he could be given the permanent role at the end of the season.
