Angel Gomes’ (24) future is up in the air. Since joining Lille OSC from formative club Manchester United back in 2020, he has flourished. His development has now been recognised, with interim England manager Lee Carsley giving the midfielder his first caps for the Three Lions.
Those caps came after two seasons of consistency in the LOSC midfield and in a variety of positions. Under Bruno Genesio, just as under Paolo Fonseca, Gomes remains a key player for Les Dogues, however, there is uncertainty surrounding his future in the north of France.
His contract expires at the end of the season, and according to L’Équipe, there are not yet any signs of a renewal. That means that he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement from January. That is music to the ears of Manchester United, who, even before his recent breakthrough onto the international scene, had already registered an interest in bringing Gomes back to the club.
