In a recent report, Sky Sports mentioned that Manchester United have launched a move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer. It has been stated that the Red Devils are exploring the possibility of bringing the Swedish forward to Old Trafford in this summer transfer period.
The Stockholm-born sensation had an incredible campaign at Sporting recently as he put in a lot of eye-catching performances for them in Liga Portugal. Gyokeres played in 52 matches for the Portuguese outfit last season, scoring 54 times and securing 13 assists in all competitions.
The 27-year-old led the line well based on his average of 4.08 shots per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He kept 52% of his attempts on target but needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 71.4% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).
Gyokeres is under contract at the Portuguese club until the summer of 2028. Thus, Man United would have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting the Swedish forward this off-season.

Gyokeres excels at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for others around him in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Sweden international has proven his worth as a lethal marksman in Portuguese football. However, the jury is still out on whether he can maintain his excellent form in the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to bring him on board in this summer transfer window.
Gyokeres would add plenty of firepower to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s frontline. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford next season.
At 27, Gyokeres is about to enter his prime which makes him an excellent option for the Mancunian giants to consider this summer. Still, Amorim would have to give him some time to adjust to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League before he can unlock the best out of the player.
