Manchester United’s current priority in the transfer market is improving the midfield and major changes are afoot as per the most recent reports.

Scott McTominay is on his way out with the club having agreed a deal with Serie A side Napoli for the academy graduate. A pay-off might be required to move the Scot on with further discussions planned.

Once the 27-year-old is moved on, the Red Devils will try and acquire Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, with the Uruguayan being Erik ten Hag’s top target since the window opened.

Keeping in mind Profit and Sustainability rules, the club had been trying to move on quite a few players before trying to wrap up a deal for the PSG star.

Eriksen’s future

One player United were open to moving on was Christian Eriksen with the Dane’s minutes drastically reducing since Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence in the last campaign.

He had expressed his displeasure at the situation to Ten Hag but his situation has not improved. The former Tottenham Hotspur star is yet to make an appearance this season.

If and when Ugarte arrives, minutes could get rarer and that is why the 20-time English league champions had reportedly offered Eriksen’s services to his former club Ajax.

However, the Dutch champions’ financial situation meant the best they could offer was a loan deal, something that did not suit INEOS.

Belgian side Anderlecht are also in the race but as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United are yet to receive any concrete bid and with only a few days left in the window, the 32-year-old’s future is hanging in the balance.

No bids as yet

“For Eriksen, it will depend on the proposals. A lot of rumours, a lot of stories, but from what I heard there is still no bid on Manchester United’s table. They have not received any formal approach from any club,” the Italian told Givemesport.

“Let’s see if someone will arrive with a good proposal for Eriksen and if that proposal is quite attractive for the player that could be the case otherwise [that he will leave].

“At the moment, the situation is still quiet from what I’m hearing, so it will depend on proposals. But again, a lot of noise, but still no bids on the table.”

United will hope moving on the Denmark international will not prove costly. While his legs have gone, his passing quality remains unmatched and it would be wise to keep someone who can open the lock at times.
