In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Manchester United have set their sights on Red Bull Leipzig full-back David Raum. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the German talent to Old Trafford this summer.

Raum’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga

Raum enjoyed a good run of form in the Bundesliga last season when he put in a run of eye-catching performances on the left side of Leipzig’s defence. The German defender featured in 30 league matches for his current employers in the previous campaign, scoring three times and earning seven assists in the process.

The 28-year-old is currently one of the most talented full-backs in the Bundesliga. Therefore, Man United would do well to get a deal over the line for him in this transfer window.

His current contract at the Red Bull Arena will expire at the end of next season, which could open the door for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap before the end of this month.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Go For Raum?

Raum loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a good crosser as well from the wide areas.

The German sensation is full of energy and running on the left flank. Raum can even chip in by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team. He is primarily a left-back, but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.

However, there are some question marks over whether Raum can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League. Still, we can expect him to bring more quality and depth to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s defence. He is capable of challenging for a regular starting place at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

At 28, Raum is playing in his prime, which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to consider this month. With all things considered, Carrick should focus on going for a left-back with his skill set before the end of this transfer window.
