Manchester United have opened discussions with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson’s representatives, according to BBC Sport.

Jackson moved to Stamford Bridge from Villarreal two seasons ago and has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances across all competitions for the Blues.

However, his future has been thrown into doubt following Chelsea’s summer acquisitions of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, both of whom have quickly jumped up the pecking order.

Chelsea maintain they are not desperate to sell Jackson and would only consider a transfer if a suitable offer is made.

United’s quest for new players has cranked up over the past couple of weeks. They are close to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, but need to acquire a striker.

Aston Villa and AC Milan have also shown strong interest in Jackson. However, Chelsea’s hefty valuation is proving to be a stumbling block.

Internal discussions at Old Trafford over a move are in the early stages as United weigh up the 24-year-old against alternative targets.

United have already agreed deals to part ways with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, albeit only temporarily with the former.

The Red Devils are still hoping to sanction a sale for Alejandro Garnacho, who Chelsea have long admired. They may be open to a swap deal.
