Manchester United in the running for Man City’s Jack Grealish, who feels Pep Guardiola has frozen him out

Manchester United’s lack of a proven goalscorer let Ruben Amorim down in the Europa League final, and the club has plans to fix this in the summer.

Rasmus Hojlund is not good enough, and a striker will be targeted, even though those plans are expected to be recalibrated now that there will be no Champions League football on offer.

Apart from goals, adding creativity to the forward line is also on the agenda with Matheus Cunha of Wolverhampton Wanderers expected to be the club’s first summer signing.

The board are also mulling over adding another attacking midfielder with links to Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo emerging recently. Both will cost in excess of €60 million, something that might not be feasible currently.

Jack Grealish a target for United?

Miguel Delaney of The Independent has suggested an even more outlandish name — Jack Grealish of noisy neighbours Manchester City.

The England international may have won trophies since his switch to the Etihad from Aston Villa, but his own output has dramatically decreased, going from a flamboyant winger to a safety-first wide midfielder.

He is ready to leave Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer after he told his close friends that the Spanish manager had him “frozen out” from the squad this season.

“They are doubling down on Ruben Amorim, and pressing ahead with transfers for Mateus Cunha and Liam Delap.

“The feeling is they just need to get goals going in again. On that, one rumour is floating around that all parties may be interested in a deal for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.”

Difficult for United to pull off a deal for Jack Grealish

The 29-year-old managed only 16 starts across all competitions, completing 90 minutes only on nine occasions, and he registered three goals and five assists. Last season, he managed only three goals and as many assists.

He was a target for United during his Villa days but City ultimately won the race for him and changed his career trajectory forever.

Amorim might get him back firing like in his pomp, and his Premier League-experience would also suit the team’s needs. He has two years left on his deal and his market value has fallen to €35 million.

However, the reporter himself has claimed it will be hard for the Red Devils to pull off such a deal given the animosity between both clubs so it is imperative fans take this link with a huge pinch of salt.

The £100 million England international currently earns £300,000 gross per week (via capology) another potential stumbling block for INEOS.
