Manchester United are reportedly growing more optimistic about their chances of securing the services of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim is on the hunt for attacking reinforcements after a toothless 2024/25 season for United, marked by a lack of firepower up front.

In addition to signing a top-class striker. Amorim is believed to be keen on bolstering his options in the number 10 position. Earlier on Sunday, the club confirmed the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mbeumo is another attacker being strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

The Cameroonian enjoyed a fantastic campaign, notching an impressive 20 Premier League goals. Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland outscored him.

He’s been widely tipped to leave Brentford, with Thomas Frank also admitting that the Bees are preparing for incoming offers.

Alongside United, both Arsenal and Newcastle are also believed to be admirers of Mbeumo. While United are at a disadvantage given that the other two clubs can offer Champions League football, the Muppetiers – a relatively reliable source for United news – claims that the Red Devils are making progress in their pursuit and remain confident of winning the race for Mbeumo.

According to the Muppetiers, United feel their chances of convincing Mbeumo to join their ranks are “improving.”

Muppetiers add that the scales could tip in United’s favour very soon.

“It’s progressing, it’s not going backwards, we’re not being rejected and it hasn’t been killed.”

On United’s interest in Mbeumo, Muppetiers notes that the Gunners aren’t strongly after the 25-year-old and “they’re not going anywhere” with their pursuit of him.

It’s understood that “things are shifting more towards United’s direction” and “there is more positivity on the feeling that talks are going well.”

United are of the opinion that “they can get something done” although things are still at an early stage and there is still a lot of work to do to get a deal over the line.
