Ruben Amorim has a relatively clean bill of health ahead of a huge showdown at Anfield

Manchester United face Liverpool after the international break as they look to record back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim.

Man Utd travel to Anfield on the back of a 2-0 win over newly-promoted Sunderland almost a fortnight ago as goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko helped gain some momentum before the break.

That result coupled with Liverpool no being in great form at present - losing their last three games in a row across all competitions - means the Red Devils may fancy their chances on Merseyside.

Man United have had several senior players away with their respective national teams over the past week and early suggestions are that Amorim will have a near clean bill of health as he plots to pile even more misery on the reigning Premier League champions.

Another benefit of the international break is a key player who has been absent in recent weeks is expected to be available for selection against Liverpool.

That said, here’s a look at the latest on the Manchester United injuries...

Noussair Mazraoui

It has been a stop-start season for the versatile defender so far as he missed the opening weekend loss to Arsenal before returning against Burnley and playing the next two games.

However, Noussair Mazraoui then suffered a setback in the 2-1 win over Chelsea which caused him to sit out the loss to Brentford and victory against Sunderland.

Furthermore, he was left out of the Morocco squad for matches against Bahrain and Congo due to an unspecified knock that Amorim confirmed would keep him out until after the international break.

All signs point towards Mazraoui being available to face Liverpool, though Amorim is expected to provide an update in the pre-match press conference.

Lisandro Martinez

In a massive boost for the Red Devils, fresh reports claim Lisandro Martinez was due to resume full first-team training at Carrington this week following a positive scan on a knee injury that has sidelined him for much of 2025.

The Argentine underwent surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered against Crystal Palace back in February but hopes to return either against Brighton next weekend or Nottingham Forest seven days later.

"It's really important,” Amorim said when asked about the mental impact of Martinez’s return. “We miss a lot Licha [Martinez], especially in this moment, we miss his aggression in everything he does, we miss him.

“But he's always there in every meeting. In training, he sometimes finishes his and stays to watch the training. We need Licha in this team.”

Ayden Heaven

Man Utd were handed a new injury scare when England youth star Ayden Heaven picked up a knock on national team duty.

The defender went down in the opening minute of England’s Under-20s loss to Switzerland at St. George's Park last Friday, requiring lengthy treatment before eventually being substituted by head coach Ben Futcher at half-time.

Heaven playing out the rest of the first half may offer some encouragement that the issue is not severe, with Futcher confirming after the match that the 19-year-old had “picked something up” but that he didn’t think it was “too serious”.

However, the England U20s boss added that the team “will have to see how it settles down”, suggesting the extend of the problem is not yet known.

As a result, all eyes will be on Amorim’s press conference when he will likely be quizzed on the youngster’s availability for the Liverpool game.
