PSG have a major decision looming—and clubs like Inter Milan and Manchester United are paying close attention: Is Gianluigi Donnarumma still their long-term solution in goal?

He’s under contract through 2026, but interest from Europe’s top sides continues to grow. Since joining from AC Milan in 2021, Donnarumma has delivered in key moments—coming up big in shootouts and making game-saving stops—but his stint in Paris hasn’t been without issues.

High-profile mistakes, including a costly one against Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League, have raised questions about his ability to thrive under pressure.

Now, with PSG finally winning the Champions League, the spotlight is back on their roster decisions. Donnarumma has reasserted himself as the club’s No. 1 with a string of strong performances, but with his contract winding down, rival clubs are watching closely, ready to make a move if PSG hesitate.

According to a recent report from ESPN FC, Donnarumma wants to remain at PSG, even with interest from Manchester United and Inter Milan. Ahead of PSG’s group-stage match against Botafogo at the FIFA Club World Cup, Donnarumma shared an update on his contract situation with the capital club.

“We’re moving forward, we’re moving forward,” Donnarumma said (h/t Paris Fans). “My agent is talking with the club. I’m focused on the matches, on the trophy. We don’t have any problems.”

Recently, Dominique Séverac said on L’Équipe du Soir that Lucas Chevalier would only join PSG if Donnarumma leaves the club.

“Donnarumma? As soon as he doesn’t extend his contract, they’ll go after another goalkeeper,” Séverac said. “There’s a 90 percent chance it’ll be Chevalier.

“Chevalier will never come if Donnarumma is still there—he’s not going to compete with him. He’ll only come if he’s assured of being the first-choice goalkeeper.”
