A potential blockbuster move for Rodrygo of Real Madrid could be in the works for Manchester United if Spanish media are to be believed.
The Brazilian has endured a difficult campaign for Los Blancos, netting only once in the last 22 games in all competitions, with his last La Liga goal coming back in January.
Last season, he had turned down a move to the Premier League, but he could be much more receptive to the idea of leaving the Bernabeu, with Real open to the idea of letting the 24-year-old leave should any team offer them €100 million (£84m).
Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea as well as the Red Devils are all interested should the option present itself as per AS.
“Rodrygo has been attracting the interest of several of England’s biggest clubs for years, starting with Manchester City while Mikel Arteta ‘s Arsenal are another team desperately looking to strengthen their attacking line this summer.
“Liverpool could also enter the race for the Real Madrid player. And those who should never be forgotten in the Premier League bidding are Manchester United and Chelsea .
“The Red Devils and Blues’ summer plans are subject to, and almost conditioned by, their respective qualifications for the next edition of the Champions League. The much-discussed and possible departure of Alejandro Garnacho from Old Trafford could generate the respective need for reinforcements in the Manchester United attack.
“Of course, if Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, or any other interested club wanted to sign Rodrygo, they would have no choice but to dig deep into their pockets.
“While his release clause is €1 billion , Real Madrid would be willing to negotiate his sale for €100 million or more . If any of these English clubs were to put three figures on the table, Real Madrid would, yes, consider letting the Brazilian go.”
Despite an overall disappointing campaign, Rodrygo still has 13 goals and 10 assists this season, more than all United players except Bruno Fernandes. And the Red Devils have been long-term admirers of his talent.
The Brazil international can play up top as well as on either flank while his creativity, dribbling ability and speed are top-draw as well.
But such a humongous offer seems beyond United’s reach at the moment and it is likely that Rodrygo will end up staying in Madrid or a team with a fat pocket like City or Chelsea could come in for him.
