Manchester United have been linked with an unlikely move to Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, but there will be significant competition for the Canadian’s signature next summer.
According to journalist Christian Falk, United will be at the table next summer when it comes to the race for Davies, which is beginning to heat up with more clubs emerging with interest.
United will face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona as well.
It is understood that Bayern Munich and Davies have struggled to reach an agreement for a new deal. This means the Canada international will be a free agent in the summer of 2025 and he will be allowed to negotiate with foreign clubs in January.
Falk explains that Hansi Flick wants to reunite with Davies, but Madrid still lead the way for his signature.
The biggest clubs in Europe are believed to be circling Davies, which proves he is a player any club would want due to his calibre.

Davies, 24, can play at left-back and would be a brilliant addition if new head coach Ruben Amorim decides to play with a back-three system at United.
United have big issues at left-back since Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are rarely fit. Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy have both opted to play Diogo Dalot on his least favoured flank as a result.
The Bayern Munich defender has proven himself in the Bundesliga and he has the quality to thrive in the Premier League. The Reds could do with a player that is renowned for his recovery pace and effectiveness going forward. It would add a new dimension to the United side.
It’s a signing many will dream of, but I can’t see United beating Madrid or Barcelona to Davies’ signature. He won’t be the only defender on our target list.
