In a recent report, Calciomercato revealed that Manchester United are leading the chase for Palmeiras winger Gabriel Veron this summer. However, it is understood that the Red Devils will face competition from Juventus, Napoli, Barcelona, Olympique Lyonnais, Manchester City, Rennes, Sevilla, Rennes and Sassuolo in pursuit of the Brazilian youngster (via Calciomercato).
Veron has enjoyed a majestic rise in Brazilian football over the past 18 months. He came through the youth ranks of Palmeiras and has now become a valuable player for them at the senior level. At the tender age of 18, the Assu-born talent has already made 23 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A, finding the back of the net six times while grabbing three assists thus far.
Most of Veron’s appearances came as a substitute which explains why he only averaged 0.6 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Brazilian top-flight. He even distributed possession relatively well in the opposition half after completing 76.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
The South American sensation has shown plenty of signs of maturity recently and is destined to have a very bright future in world football. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to adapt to life in England if Man United can win the race for his signature.

Veron is blessed with electric pace and can make some dangerous runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can be a delight to watch when he is dribbling at full speed and usually works his socks off both on and off the ball in the opposition half.
The 16-time Brazil Under-17 international has even added some goals and assists to his game in senior football which goes to show just how well he has performed in Brazilian football. However, the youngster might struggle to cope with the physical and high intensity of English football, so he needs to work on building his strength if he wants to be a success story at Old Trafford.
There is no denying that Veron is a prospect to watch out for in the future as he has the potential to become one of the best players in his position someday. Therefore, Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should think about doing everything in his power to bring the Brazilian starlet to the Theatre of Dreams in this off-season.
