Both players are expected to leave Man United this summer

Marcus Rashford has responded to Alejandro Garnacho after the Manchester United winger posted a picture on social media with obvious transfer connotations.

Rashford spent the second half of season on loan at Villa Park after being exiled from the United squad by Ruben Amorim.

The Englishman replied “my brother” to the post, with it looking certain that both players’ futures will be away from Old Trafford.

Rashford is believed to be available for £40m, though reports suggest he is unwilling to to take a cut to his £325,000-a-week wages and that is limiting the options for a permanent sale.

Garnacho, meanwhile, was told by Amorim at the end of last season that he needed to find a new club this summer.

The 20-year-old, as well as his brother, reacted angrily to being left out of United’s starting XI for the Europa League final against May and that has proved to be the final straw for Amorim.

It has been claimed that United want £70m for Garnacho, who is keen to stay in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen how realistic that valuation is when the club have made it clear the player is for sale.

Garnacho was initially left out of United’s squad with Rashford in December last year, but unlike the England forward was able to win over Amorim and return to the fold.

No such comeback looks to be possible for Rashford, who is understood to want to secure a move to Barcelona.

He provided further evidence of that in an interview with Spanish YouTuber Javi Ruiz over the weekend, when he was asked whether he wanted to play alongside Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal.

“Yes, for sure,” Rashford said.

“Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully … we’ll see.

“It’s difficult to put into words what he is doing because he’s not supposed to be doing that at 16 or 17. I don’t think we’ve seen that before.”
