Manchester United are on the verge of signing Samuel Lusale from Crystal Palace, according to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.

The 16-year-old winger played impressed in Slovakia’s three group games at the U17 European Championship in May.

The teenager, who joined Palace three years ago, is represented by Roc Nation, the talent agency founded by rapper Jay-Z. Roc Nation previously had dealings with Marcus Rashford but that is no longer the case…

Lusale is a speedy winger with lots of skill in his locker. Roc Nation profile him as “one of the most exciting attacking players in the UK at under-16 level,” which is music to our ears.

Palace have an incredible record at identifying talent such as Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze. It’s about time we got ahead of the game by bringing talent to the club sooner. That way we get these players on the cheap.

One player to keep an eye on next season is Ronnie Edwards after his switch from Peterborough United to Southampton, as per BBC Sport. The 21-year-old won League Two Player of the Year and has a high ceiling. He could triple his value after one season in the Premier League.

The prospect of Lusale joining United is exciting because it shows United have a long-term vision under their new co-owners. Especially when English clubs’ recruitment at the academy level is restricted as Brexit regulations prohibit them from signing players under the age of 18 from overseas clubs.
