Paul Scholes has reignited the debate around Kobbie Mainoo's usage, claiming that Ruben Amorim is "wasting" the progress of a player many regarded as a cornerstone for Manchester United's future. The club legend expressed his disbelief at the manager's statement that Mainoo is "just another starter," pointing out that the academy product has started only one match since August. For Scholes, it's incomprehensible that such a homegrown talent is sidelined by "a team that can't control a football match."

The unease is shared by supporters, who week after week witness the 20-year-old midfielder slipping down the pecking order. Just this Thursday, Mason Mount, Manuel Ugarte, and Lisandro Martínez were all brought on ahead of him, as United watched West Ham equalize late in the match. With just 171 minutes of Premier League action, the player's frustration is becoming painfully evident.

According to The Athletic, Mainoo is now seriously considering leaving to accelerate his development. Scholes, for his part, is no longer holding back: leaving would "probably be best for him." This situation could set the stage for a lively transfer window.
