Manchester United's quest to make it eight matches unbeaten was ended at the hands of Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Their former player Anthony Elanga's goal was the difference. The loss sees United remain 13th in the table at the moment.

The result also means Ruben Amorim lost both his matches against Forest in the Premier League this season. Nuno Espírito Santo's side had won the reverse fixture at Old Trafford 3-2.

The match started with Ruben Amorim's side having a lot of possession. However, apart from a few Bruno Fernandes shots, nothing came of it. Forest took the lead through Anthony Elanga from a quick break off a Manchester United corner in the fifth minute. The closest they came was when Diogo Dalot's header from a corner hit the crossbar. Matthijs de Ligt failed with his rebound shot as well. Despite looking like creating chances, the visitors could not conjure any genuine opportunities as the first half ended with Forest leading 1-0.

The second half saw the home side getting more possession. United tried to create chances from the left side through Alejandro Garnacho but never came close. However, towards the end of the match, substitute Harry Maguire, who played in an advanced role, almost thought he scored, but it was cleared off the line by Murillo. The loss was their 13th of the league season.

A big chance was missed with a weak shot that was saved by Sels. Defensively was good most times.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6.5/10

Could not stop Elanga as he scored. Did well otherwise defensively. Had the most tackles in the match.

Diogo Dalot - 7/10

Header rattled the crossbar from a corner. Went forward a lot of times but did his job defensively.

Found himself around the box a few times. Did well in the middle in the first half. Cautioned early in the second half. Taken off just before the hour mark.

Manuel Ugarte – 6/10

Did defensively okay. Was taken off at half-time as Amorim brought on Højlund looking for a goal.

Failed to stop Elanga before the goal. Worked hard to influence attack but could not do much. Came close with a header in the second half.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6.5/10

Bruno Fernandes – 7.5/10

Plenty of shots in the first half, but nothing to cause trouble. Moved deeper after half-time. Dictated his side's game from the middle.
