Manchester United expected a quiet evening at Old Trafford, but the script took a dramatic turn as early as the 13th minute when Idrissa Gueye was sent off after a baffling altercation with his own teammate Michael Keane. This surreal scene seemed to pave the way for a comfortable victory for the Red Devils against a ten-man Everton side.

But instead of making the most of their numerical advantage, Manchester United completely lost their way. Utterly toothless in the final third, Erik ten Hag's men were punished by a stunning strike from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, sealing the only goal of a match that turned into a nightmare for the English giants.

This defeat is anything but trivial: it's the first time in Premier League history that United have lost at home to a side reduced to ten men following a red card. Until now, the previous 46 dismissals at Old Trafford had resulted in 36 wins and 10 draws. On Monday night, United wrote a dark new chapter in their recent history.
