In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Radek Vitek from Czech side Sigma Olomouc.
The 16-year-old – who had a trial at the club last year – is considered a hot prospect for the future and will go into United’s academy later this summer once football resumes.
United had agreed to terms in principle with Vitek in January but had to wait for paperwork to complete the move. He is now set to join United as a scholar-athlete in July.
To say the young keeper is excited to join United is an understatement, “It’s a surreal feeling, a move to Manchester United is the dream of a lot of guys who start playing football,” he told the Czech club’s website.
“I’m really looking forward to it. I admit I didn’t even believe it when I found out about the club’s interest, but now it’s a reality.”
Vitek joins a growing list of young goalkeepers at the club with Dean Henderson, Kieran O’Hara, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar, Paul Woolston, Jacob Carney, Ondrej Mastny, and Johan Guadagno already on the books.
