Manchester United had not strung together two consecutive Premier League victories for nearly twenty months. An eternity for a club of this stature. But the arrival of Ruben Amorim seems to have awakened a team searching for its identity. The recent performances have not gone unnoticed by Sir Alex Ferguson, who, while visiting Bahrain, expressed his excitement at the team’s progress—and at the impact of three particular new signings.

The legendary Scottish manager was particularly full of praise for the new goalkeeper, Senne Lammens. The 23-year-old Belgian has only played a handful of matches, but his impact has been immediate: United is unbeaten since he took up his position between the posts.

"The manager has made good choices, especially the goalkeeper. He’s been exceptional. He’s only played three or four matches and he’s already very impressive," Ferguson said, clearly impressed.

Lammens, Mbeumo, Cunha: Amorim’s new pillars

Beyond the man between the sticks, Ferguson also endorsed Manchester United’s attacking signings. Bryan Mbeumo, brought in this summer for €65 million (including bonuses), has instantly established himself as a decisive weapon with six goals in twelve appearances. Matheus Cunha, the first signing of the transfer window from Wolverhampton, has also become a key figure in Amorim’s system.

The Portuguese coach, crowned Manager of the Month for October, thus sees his work recognized by the greatest legend in club history.

"Mbeumo and Cunha have brought something extra. I hope Ruben will be successful, because at Manchester United, you have to win. And there are signs they’re heading in the right direction," Sir Alex confided.

United can finally breathe, play better, win—and above all, dare to dream again. A trend validated by the man who built the Red Devils’ empire.
