Manchester United aim to beat fellow European titans Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Brazilian sensation Luis Guilherme.

The midfield department has been a regular source of embarrassment this season for everyone at Old Trafford, as time and time again oppositions have waltzed through with relative ease.

Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat certainly look like they will be heading out of the exit door and Christian Eriksen’s future is also far from secure.

As a result, United have been linked to numerous midfielders to bolster this department with Joao Neves, Andre and Youssouf Fofana all being mentioned as possible replacements.

Nonetheless, since INEOS took over the reins of the club, there seems to be a greater focus on scouting young talent as players such as Aaron Anselmino, Archie Gray, Franceso Camarda and Franco Mastantuono are all teenagers from around the world who have been linked to the club.

In particular, there seems to be a focus on exploiting the South American market to find hidden gems like Real Madrid have done so well over the last few years.

One name that United have been linked to once more is that of Palmeiras midfielder, Guilherme.

The Red Devils were first credited with an interest in the exciting 18 year old in October when Fabrizio Romano confirmed the club were scouting him.

It was also reported back in February that Liverpool were in “pole position” to sign the player but the door has opened for United recently as the Anfield side aren’t even mentioned in the most recent news about his future.

Fichajes report that he “is in the sights of renowned European clubs” and that “he is worth around €50 million, having attracted the attention of teams such as Real Madrid, Manchester United, PSG and Manchester City.”

“Despite his young age, he has shown glimpses of his ability with one goal in 12 appearances this season, indicating a promising future in European football.”

The youngster has been described as a “technical midfielder with good on-field decision making.” The Brazilian is also famous for being incredibly rapid as he clocked a top speed of 36.4km/h in the 2022 Copa do Brasil Sub-17 final against Vasco da Gama.

Whether United firm up their interest in the player or can beat such illustrious names to his signature are still very much up in the air. However, it is interesting that INEOS are trying to take the club’s recruitment in a different direction as the Red Devils have missed out on numerous young talents from South America over the years.
