The Red Devils kick off their preparations on 18 July against Wrexham in Helsinki, before travelling to Trondheim, Norway, to play Rosenborg the following Friday.

Their European tour continues into August with two matches in Sweden: a Snapdragon Cup encounter with Atletico Madrid in Stockholm on 1 August, and Paris St Germain in Gothenburg a week later.

Before the Milan fixture, United will also face Premier League rivals Leeds in Dublin on 12 August, completing a demanding summer schedule.

Director of football Jason Wilcox told the United website: “We’re excited to be concluding our pre‑season tour in Wroclaw, Poland, with a big game against AC Milan.

“With fixtures now confirmed across five countries and six fantastic cities, these matches will provide strong preparation for the 2026-27 season and a valuable opportunity to connect with our incredible fans across Europe. Their support will be vital as we build momentum.”

The news comes ahead of a pivotal summer for United, who confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach last month.

Chief executive Omar Berrada said United have a “clear plan” and will not allow market forces or agents to dictate their summer transfer plans, chief executive Omar Berrada has said.

Berrada is confident the club can strengthen further after last year’s successful recruitment drive, when they signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.

United are understood to have already agreed a £35million fee with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson and more additions are expected.

Berrada told the Inside Carrington podcast: “I think the template of what we did last summer will be replicated.

“We have a clear plan. I do think what we saw last season is a good way forward for us, which is we want a mix of experience and youth, we want a mix of players who have demonstrated they can perform in the Premier League and perhaps also players who are doing very well outside the Premier League.

“But we will always do it within our terms, ensuring that whatever decision we take is not just for the short term, but also for the long term.

“We have to be really disciplined, it’s simple. We know what we can invest and we have to stick to that.

“It’s very important that you don’t let the market or the agents dictate what we should be doing.”
