Michael Carrick may have done enough to remain in his post at Manchester United, according to a report from L’Équipe.
In a piece hypothesising Didier Deschamps’ next destination, L’Équipe evoked the possibility of a move to England. Manchester City have been cited, although, despite Pep Guardiola being expected to leave the club, the publication understands that former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is his chosen successor.
There may not be an opening at Manchester United either. Carrick came in on an interim basis earlier this season, replacing Ruben Amorim. The former England international has impressed. In his first 10 Premier League games, Manchester United have won seven; he is taking an average of 2.3 points per game.
As a result, L’Équipe report that the Red Devils could be tempted to retain Carrick, rather than search for a replacement at the end of the season.
L’Équipe adds that the managerial position could be vacant at Chelsea this summer, with Liam Rosenior already coming under pressure, but Deschamps’ profile may not necessarily be one that interests the London-based club.
