Links with Myles Lewis-Skelly have been denied

Manchester United are exploring alternative transfer targets to Lewis Hall.

Standard Sport understands that Newcastle defender Hall has long had admirers at United, and there is strong interest this summer, but any deal will prove extremely complicated this summer.

Newcastle have already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, and are set to lose captain Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal. A fourth key player leaving is unthinkable.

United are in the market for a new left-back with Luke Shaw, 31, having now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford.

There had been links with versatile Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly, but Standard Sport understands that the player will be not pursued this summer.

Man Utd are now being linked with an alternative option to bolster their left-back ranks, as Spanish outlet AS claim Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas is being monitored.

However, United could face competition from Barcelona for the promising defender.

Mundo Deportivo go further be claiming that Man Utd are ready to trigger Jorge Salinas’ €16million (£13.7m) release clause.

The report claims that Man Utd scouts were impressed by Salinas’s performances during the Under-19 European Champonships, with Spain one with the player at regular at left-back.

Salinas, who can also play at centre-back, has three years to run on his contract at Racing.
