Manchester United continue their defence of the FA Cup against Fulham this afternoon.
Ruben Amorim’s side host Fulham in the fifth round with the victors to progress into the quarter-finals. United overcame the early adversity of a first-half red card to beat Ipswich in midweek, with Harry Maguire’s winner sealing an important three points in the Premier League.
Maguire also scored the winner as United controversially beat Leicester in the previous round of this competition. In the absence of VAR, the centre-back headed home in stoppage time despite appearing offside.
Fulham have beaten Watford and Wigan to reach round five. The West Londoners have reached this round for just the second time in eight seasons. In 2022/23, Fulham lost a controversial quarter-final tie at Manchester United that saw Aleksandar Mitrovic and Willian sent off in the same minute to reduce the visitors to nine men. After Willian’s handball, Mitrovic’s angry remonstrations saw him follow the Brazilian down the tunnel.
Patrick Dorgu is unavailable for today’s tie after his red card against Ipswich. The January signing was dismissed for a high first-half challenge at Old Trafford.
It’s otherwise as you were for Ruben Amorim, who remains without Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount in midfield. His defence is also depleted, with Lisandro Martinez out for the campaign with an ACL injury and Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans still sidelined. Amad Diallo will also not feature again this campaign due to an ankle ligament issue.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro, Dalot; Ugarte, Casemiro; Fernandes, Hojlund, Zirkzee
Manchester United host Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday 2nd March 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 16:30 GMT.
