Manchester United host Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the Premier League season.
Interim manager Michael Carrick aims to finish a successful campaign on a high note at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have already secured their primary target of UEFA Champions League qualification for next term. Nottingham Forest arrive on Manchester soil having recently confirmed their mathematical top-flight safety under manager Vítor Pereira. The visitors will look to bounce back from their recent Europa League semi-final heartbreak against Aston Villa.
That said, Forest boast an impressive eight-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League heading into this fixture. They won this exact fixture 3-2 last season and target another famous victory. United are currently winless in their last four meetings against the Tricky Trees. However, the hosts have only lost their final home league match once in eighteen seasons. Both teams remain completely unbeaten this term whenever they manage to score the opening goal.
Michael Carrick confirmed that departing midfielder Casemiro is available for an emotional Old Trafford farewell. Manuel Ugarte has also returned to training and could play a part this weekend. However, top scorer Benjamin Šeško remains a minor doubt with an ongoing shin injury. Matthijs de Ligt is back in light training but remains far from match fitness.
Vítor Pereira hopes to welcome back star playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White after he trained wearing a facial mask. Dan Ndoye and Ibrahim Sangaré have also returned to fitness ahead of the trip north. In contrast, Murillo and Ola Aina remain ruled out with muscle and hamstring injuries. Callum Hudson-Odoi, John Victor, Willy Boly, and Nicolò Savona are out for the season.
United entered a goalless draw at Sunderland last weekend to snap their 23-game league scoring streak. Despite this blank, Bruno Fernandes remains one assist away from equalling the all-time division record. He has created 124 chances this season.
Forest secured a 1-1 draw against Newcastle to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches. Elliot Anderson scored a brilliant equaliser to salvage a point at the City Ground last Sunday. Meanwhile, the visitors have won their last three away league matches by an aggregate score of 11-1.
