Manchester United makes a bold move: trying to bring McTominay back

Manchester United wants to bring back Scott McTominay!
After leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2024 to join Napoli, Scott McTominay is arguably enjoying the best spell of his career. But as he has established himself as one of the most complete midfielders in Europe, the Red Devils are still closely monitoring his progress and are reportedly considering a potential return around 2026. According to several sources close to the situation, the Scot is not ruling out a comeback to Old Trafford, but only under very specific conditions. Now a cornerstone of Antonio Conte's system, the player has no intention of leaving Italy for an unclear project or a secondary role.
On United’s side, the interest remains strong: the club is looking for a midfielder who can bring impact, verticality and a presence in the box—qualities McTominay now masters better than ever. His departure was dictated by the need to reshape the squad, but at 28, his profile once again fits Manchester’s requirements. However, the McTominay camp is adamant: the former Red Devil will only move if Manchester United presents him with a clear project, a defined status, and a coherent sporting vision.
The fact remains that Napoli has absolutely no intention of letting him go before 2026, especially after his outstanding performances in Serie A. If Manchester United ever hopes to bring him back, it will take more than just a big check—they’ll need to offer him a genuine central role in the club’s future.
