Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has taken shots at Paul Pogba and none other than Zlatan Ibrahimović. The Frenchman and the Swede may no longer be Red Devils, but that didn't spare them from Rooney's criticism.

Appearing on The Overlap, Wayne Rooney singled out three of Manchester United's flops. "The previous recruitment was disastrous, wasn't it? They were only bringing in big names. Look at Lukaku, Zlatan, Pogba—they're good players, but it was all about signing famous names and spending huge amounts. It's going to take some time to get over those mistakes. When you look at what's happened at Manchester United over the last ten years, some players have really suffered. Now that they've started to get some results, you can see confidence slowly coming back. The manager needed those results as well," said the former England international.

He also added: "You can sense there's more self-belief now. Their form is gradually improving, there's clearly been progress. I think we're seeing steps forward and the players are starting to understand each other better. I'd love to see Bruno Fernandes play higher up the pitch. That's something I'd really like to see. January will be interesting to see if they can convince players to come in and give them that little extra boost to try and qualify for Europe or finish in the top four or five in the Champions League race. We're slowly starting to see better signings. You have to be realistic and ask: 'Will they win the league?' No, they won't. Is it possible to finish in the top four or five? We're seeing steady improvement."
