Manchester United have informed Bruno Fernandes that they will do everything to keep him at Old Trafford this summer, per the Daily Mail.
The 31-year-old is contracted with the Red Devils until 2027, with the club having an option to extend it by another year.
INEOS were open to selling the experienced midfielder last summer when they received a £100 million offer from Saudi Arabia.
But he rejected the approach and opted to stay at Old Trafford.
In a Portuguese TV interview in December, Fernandes admitted he was ‘hurt’ and ‘sad’ that United were willing to sell him.
However, United have changed their stance as they are planning to do everything to extend his stay in Manchester.
Former manager Ruben Amorim featured Fernandes in a deeper midfield position, which hindered his creative involvement.
But Michael Carrick immediately restored him to his favoured role and he has been firing on all cylinders since.
In his last 10 Premier League matches, Fernandes has scored two goals and created nine assists.
His two assists against Aston Villa helped him shatter David Beckham’s record of the most Premier League assists in a single season.
Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne currently share the all-time record with 20 assists in a single season, but Fernandes needs just five more from eight games to create history.
The Portugal international has been a consistent performer for United over the years, recording 105 goals and 103 assists in 319 total appearances.
Given his importance for the team, it is absolutely essential the club secure his future by handing him a new deal.
