Manchester United will only accept permanent exit or loan with obligation for Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are currently trying to sort out Jadon Sancho’s future with INEOS in talks with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Juventus.

The England international does not seem to be in Erik ten Hag’s plans and was not even part of the matchday squads for both league games thus far.

There have been reports stating the Serie A side want only a loan with United expected to cover a part of the forward’s wages while the Blues are eyeing a swap deal with Raheem Sterling set to go the other way.

However, as per BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone, the Red Devils are not interested in either formulas and are only open to a permanent sale or a loan which includes an obligation to buy.

Sancho’s future

With United short of left-backs currently, the team from London had even proposed sending Ben Chilwell to Old Trafford instead but even that is of no interest to the 20-time English league champions.

“Man Utd quite keen for it to be known they won’t give Jadon Sancho away. Want a sale, or loan with obligation to buy. Not getting impression they are keen on Ben Chilwell being part of any deal with Chelsea,” Stone wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Both suitors seem to think that United will simply let the 24-year-old leave on the cheap due to his problems with the manager but that is not what the new co-owners have in mind.

If that would have been the case, Sancho would not have mended fences with Ten Hag during pre-season despite Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund all eyeing a cut-price deal for the former Manchester City academy star.

Unlike the Glazers, INEOS will ensure they receive the best possible price for a player who does not fit in with the manager’s style and has attitude issues as highlighted at all his previous clubs.

No cut-price exit

Last season, after repeatedly coming late for training, Ten Hag was forced to call out the winger who responded in the worst way possible — by accusing the manager on social media while his camp insinuated that the Dutchman had his favourites in the squad.

Sancho refused to apologise and was subsequently banished from the first team, a step most teams would have taken if their player was also out of line.

From a United perspective, INEOS should try and permanently move on Sancho this summer itself so as to avoid further drama in the future.

However with the club still having the option to add a year to his remaining two year deal, United are aware that they might earn a more sizeable fee should the player recapture his form on loan.

A lot to figure out in the remaining days of the window.
