The midfielder’s summer break was delayed by Belgium’s run to the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals, but he is now available for his new team-mates and manager.

The same 21-day mandated break means England’s Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo and Argentina’s Lisandro Martinez remain unavailable, but Benjamin Sesko is still nursing the same shin injury which prematurely ended his involvement last season.

Michael Carrick will announce his travelling squad on Friday, and the likes of captain Bruno Fernandes should headline a group which will include the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha, Harry Maguire, Amad Diallo, and Leny Yoro.

Mbeumo should get the nod to lead the line after scoring twice in United’s 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid, while 15-year-old JJ Gabriel could feature again after making his senior debut in the same game.

Altay Bayindir will not be involved as the back-up goalkeeper finalises a loan move to Celta Vigo.
