Roma continues to work on choosing a new sporting director to replace Frederic Massara.
Ryan Friedkin arrived at Trigoria in the last few hours, and the coming days could prove decisive not only for on-field matters but also for the club’s strategy. Giovanni Manna was among the most sought-after candidates by the American owners.
The Giallorossi club has reportedly also attempted to initiate direct discussions with Napoli to assess the feasibility of the deal.
Despite Roma’s strong interest, Napoli has reportedly reiterated its desire to retain its director.
Aurelio De Laurentiis, in fact, is reportedly unwilling to let Manna go.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, the situation is not related to financial issues or any compensation between the clubs.
Following the abrupt halt in the talks for Manna, the Roman club is reportedly evaluating alternatives, including those outside of Italy. Several options remain open, and new developments could emerge in the coming weeks.
Among the names being pursued by the Roma management are Mehdi Benatia and Ramon Planes, two players with international experience and considered suitable for building a high-level technical project.
