France are en route to the United States as they prepare to face Brazil and Colombia in friendlies in what is the final international break before this summer’s FIFA World Cup, which will be held in North America.
However, they will do so without an extra midfielder being added to their squad. Manu Koné was included in the initial squad named by Didier Deschamps. However, the midfielder sustained a hamstring injury during AS Roma’s exit from the UEFA Europa League at the hands of Serie A rivals Bologna on Thursday.
Koné was subsequently ruled out of the international break. However, a replacement has not been called up. As shown in images on France’s official channels, they are now beginning their journey to the USA. It was not the same scenario in defence. Arsenal defender William Saliba was also forced to withdraw from Les Bleus’ squad, however, a replacement was called up in the form of Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix.
