Real Madrid anticipated an uphill battle to overturn their Champions League quarter-final deficit against Bayern Munich in Wednesday's return leg.

But they were gifted the most unexpected and incredible of lifelines less than 60 seconds into the last eight encounter at the Allianz Arena by their hosts.

Manuel Neuer's attempts to avert the danger for Vincent Kompany's side saw him race off his line and attempt to clear his lines but only found an opposing shirt.

The Germany international's misplaced kick out was gleefully seized upon by Arda Güler, who cancelled out Los Blancos' deficit in the tie with a long-range strike.

Fortunately for Neuer, his blushes were spared by Aleksandar Pavlović successfully restoring Bayern's one-goal cushion just a matter of minutes later.

He still won't want to watch that moment of madness back again!
