Vanegas has impressed since an injury delayed her introduction around this time last year. She helped Albion reach the WFA Cup final at Wembley, scoring the goal that sparked a comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Liverpool in the semi-finals.

The announcement came after a 5-1 league win over Charlton Athletic at the Amex.

Albion head coach Arturo Ruiz said: "This is great news for Manuela and for Brighton. Since I came to the club I have been impressed with Manuela's work-rate, commitment to what we are trying to achieve and her willingness to become an even better player."

"I'm looking forward to working with her in the future."

Vanegas previously played in Spain for Espanyol and Real Sociedad, having represented Formas Intimas, Envigado FC, Atlético Huila and Independiente Medellin. She has 57 caps for Colombia, including World Cup and Olympics, and has scored eight goals.
