Maracanã adds Dutch SGL LED lights to accelerate pitch recovery and cut energy use

Maracanã has introduced a new supplementary lighting system to speed up post-match pitch recovery, according to Globo.com.

The setup uses original Dutch SGL LED lamps, the same technology deployed at Santiago Bernabéu and Camp Nou in Spain.

It is designed to stimulate more even grass growth in the stadium’s shaded areas and to accelerate recovery after games.

The system also cuts energy consumption and reduces the heat applied to the turf during maintenance.

Flamengo and Fluminense, the Fla-Flu duo, continue to run the stadium and will again compete in the Conmebol Libertadores, while there is a possibility that Vasco could host more matches there.
