Liverpool failed to land the defender in the summer
Marc Guehi is closing in on a £20million move to Manchester City.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner earlier on Friday confirmed that a deal for his captain to leave is “in the final stages.”
Standard Sport understands Guehi is close to agreeing a five-and-a-half-year deal with City, and has been left out of Palace’s squad ahead of their trip to Sunderland this weekend.
Guehi, like Glasner, is out of contract in the summer, and it has been known for some time that he was unlikely to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park.
The England international was set to join Liverpool on the final day of the summer transfer window for a fee of £35million, even going as far as completing a medical.
But Palace chairman Steve Parish pulled the plug at the 11th hour after failing to sign a replacement.
Interest in Guehi has only increased in the months since, with Arsenal said to have been open to reuniting Guehi with his former Palace team-mate Eberechi Eze.
Guehi moved to Palace from Chelsea in 2021, with the Blues inserting a 20 per cent sell-on clause into the deal to take him to south east London.
The centre-back played the full 90 minutes as FA Cup holders Palace crashed out of the FA Cup to non-league Macclesfield last weekend in one of the biggest upsets in the competition's history.
That game looks set to be Guehi’s final appearance for Palace, who are resigned to cashing in on one of their key players instead of losing him for free in the summer.
At the same press conference, Glasner confirmed he will not sign an extension, revealing that he told Parish in October that he wants a “new challenge”.
