A new report has detailed how much Marc Guehi will earn at Manchester City after completing a £20 million transfer from Crystal Palace earlier this week.
The 25-year-old has penned a five-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad Stadium and after being ineligible to feature against Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, Guehi is expected to make his Manchester City debut against Wolves on Saturday.
City have addressed their lack of defensive depth with the shrewd acquisition of the England international, who captained Crystal Palace to a historic FA Cup title last term and has established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe since he left Chelsea in 2021.
Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to taste victory in the Premier League in 2026 and after an embarrassing 3-1 defeat in Norway this week, City have lost in back-to-back games and won just twice in their last seven games in all competitions.
Max Alleyne and Abdukodir Khusanov started in central defence for City in the Arctic Circle in midweek, with the former making a direct error leading to goal on his UEFA Champions League debut. The 20-year-old has started in all five of City’s games since he was recalled from loan at Watford earlier this month.
Ruben Dias is still a few weeks away from returning to action and there are major concerns over whether Josko Gvardiol will play for City again this term, having suffered a tibial fracture on his right leg in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea on January 4.
Nathan Ake is always unreliable when it comes to fitness as John Stones also remains sidelined with a leg injury he sustained in early December, with the injury-riddled pair expected to leave the club in the summer.
Guehi is expected to start against Wolves on Saturday as Manchester City look for their first league win of 2026, days after the first-team leadership group spent around £10,000 for the 374 fans who travelled to Norway to witness a dismal performance – just days after the Blues also suffered defeat in the Manchester derby.
Guardiola will be delighted to welcome another Premier League proven star after Semenyo, with Guehi at the perfect stage in his career to be moulded into a complete football by the Manchester City manager.
As revealed by Jack Gaughan writing for Mail Sport, the former Crystal Palace skipper is earning a basic weekly wage significantly below £300,000, though Guehi will also earn standard bonuses if and when Manchester City qualify for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League campaign.
Guehi has cited his desire to compete for and win major trophies as a crucial deciding factor that swayed him to Manchester City – following strong interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Then Ivory Coast-born star is expected to feature heavily for Manchester City in the second half of the campaign, with Gvardiol ruled out till at least May and Dias still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Chelsea.
