Marcel Schäfer, RB Leipzig's managing director for sport, has addressed mounting scrutiny after back-to-back defeats to Werder Bremen and Como following two opening wins.
The club said in a statement on Friday night that recent displays fell well below expectations, noting the coverage in the press and on social media and stressing the situation is being dealt with clearly inside the organisation.
Schäfer emphasised calm and unity, and confirmed full backing for new head coach Martin Demichelis and his players. He highlighted significant summer changes and injuries, with key figures returning, and said a reworked side needs time to build understanding.
He insisted the squad’s quality is not in doubt, adding that the group must take the right lessons, work hard and make progress over the coming weeks, and that outside noise will not distract them.
With pressure rising, Leipzig host bottom-placed Hamburger SV at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday, aiming to reset.
