Marcelino struck an upbeat but measured tone ahead of first versus third in Barcelona, stressing it is 90 minutes and his side have much to gain.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he pointed to Barcelona’s 12 wins from 12 at home and an average of three goals, recalling a 0-2 defeat earlier in the season despite a strong display and saying luck could be key if they hit their best level.

He expects chances if they are precise, but demanded ruthlessness in both boxes. The plan is to defend well in their own half, play quickly once the press is beaten, attack the space behind and avoid offsides against a dominant, high-tempo opponent.

Gerard Moreno will not be available and has not trained with the group, though his progress is encouraging and he could return soon, possibly against Elche. Willy is working almost normally but lacks medical clearance. Logan is advancing and might feature late in the season.

Marcelino noted past wins over Barça came in different circumstances, just after they had celebrated the league title, but said they travel to Montjuïc with belief. He does not expect a Cup distraction, arguing Barcelona’s players are used to competing every three days.

With 51 points and 13 games to play, he sees reasons for confidence. He urged focus on themselves, not Betis or Atlético, and underlined the ambition to finish third.
